How to turn on school sign-in for your department
With school sign-in, students and staff sign in with their school Microsoft or Google account, or an email link, and join your classes. You set it once on the Department page: there is nothing for your IT team to do.
The screenshots are of the real site with a made-up demo school: every name in them is fictional.
Open the Department page →-
Open the Department page and its Settings tab
Sign in with your school account and open Department (teacher menu → Department, or /hod). It shows for heads of department and school admins. Press the Settings tab.

Check your school's email domain and choose the options
Open School sign-in. Check the email domain (the part after @ in your students' emails; separate several with commas) and press Save. Then choose: anyone with a school email can join your classes with the class code (on by default), students and staff sign in with Microsoft only, and add teachers automatically.

On the sign-in page they press Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google and pick their school account, or type their school email and press Email me a sign-in link. For a Microsoft-only school, only the Microsoft button shows.
